精灵的吟唱---雷敏大幅油画作品展
广西艺术家雷敏的精神世界达到了一种高度自由的状态，极富创造力和想象力，极具创作激情，近年新作不断，画面变化颇多，画作尺幅巨大也难以尽情表现他目前驰骋在他的精神领域而一发不可收拾的状态。
从雷敏的这批新作中，可以看到艺术家更自由地在西画技法中融入中国画技巧，收放自如如临无人之境。集广西这片中国少数民族聚居的广袤土地之灵气，聚中国深厚的传统文化和当代迅猛发展的世态之精华，画作中的精灵游走在天空和地面之间，传来阵阵奔放的吟唱。

The Song of Genius
—Solo Exhibition of Lei Ming’s Big Works
Lei Ming's paintings are show the dualism of sexual relationships, and depict sex as a bridge leading humans to an unearthly garden.
Lei’s painting series is flooded by the imagines symbolizing an absurd weaving between man and women, which in their usage of configuration and colors appear to show the dualism of sexual relationships, “Although the images look confusing and oppressive, the surrealistic scenes surrounding them provide the same picture with a dramatic feeling.” “I really hope that my paintings can bring people another level of sense. which tells that there is always unknown and mysterious presence behind our mundane lives.” Said Lei. From this point, sex looks mors like a bridge leading human being to an unearthly garden.
Individuality in the art world today is as important as it is with other fields, and Lei defines his own style as “without rhyme or reason.” He is still unknown but believes that sooner or later the world will accept his particular way.

“和平”与“爱”—— 朱贞爱作品展

女艺术家朱贞爱，1962年出生于南韩，曾在首儿（汉城）研习亚洲艺术，在台北学习中国文化，在巴黎研究造型艺术。
2001年1月，朱贞爱以“重获天堂”为标题在联合国日内瓦办公厅举办个展，展览由两部分组成：一组作品以色彩艳丽的花朵和树木表征天堂，另一组圆型作品是将“和平”与“爱”的文字散落在以圆心向外扩展的画布之上。
艺术家表达的是，她向往天堂，亦崇尚道家观念：寻找梦幻，纯净和崇高——艺术家希望用圆形的作品表达她的梦境，变幻游弋的形态富有强烈的视觉感受。
朱贞爱这样描述她的作品：
我在作品中描述着我视界里的天堂，不是存在于空气里，而是很具体的存在于宇宙的时空。我不使用传统的矩形构图是因为我喜欢圆形，它更纯粹更协调，仿佛进入了宇宙世界——正如我们的眼睛看到的，一个聚焦的中心，向外扩散；又如我们的冥想，爱与和平是我们天堂最根本的精神象征。这些作品中“爱”与“和平”这两个词连续不间断的出现，也如同聆听一首永恒的赞歌。色彩明亮的字母如同天堂的明灯，照亮着我们的心灵。色彩在我的作品中同样是重要的，不同的颜色表达的都是平等。
朱贞爱的这些作品是绘制在粗纹棉布上的，其中一幅被联合国日内瓦办公厅收藏。粗纹棉布被当代年轻一族认为是代表着现代生活，是平等的象征。不同阶层的人都穿兰色粗棉牛仔，表达他们对他人的平等和尊重。作品中央是一张CD以及北韩南韩元首历史性会见的照片，表达着和平的希望和信念。
朱贞爱将在顶层画廊完成此次展览的部分作品。顶层画廊将为朱贞爱小姐设立艺术家工作室开放活动，时间为2005年11月11日至18日。《“和平”与“爱”—— 朱贞爱作品展》得到“欧洲杰出人士委员会”和“谁是谁（名人录）国际有限公司”的大力支持，将于11月19日至28日在上海顶层画廊举行。

Jeong-Ae Ju’s painting
is a message of peace and love to the world…..
The artist was born in
South Korea in 1962. She studied asian art in Seoul, Chinese
culture in Taipei, and the plastic arts in Paris.
In January 2001, she
had a one-woman show, based on the theme “Paradise Regained”,at the
United Nations in Geneva. The exhibit was divided into two parts:
one featured very colorful paintings of flowers and trees
representing paradise, while the other was comprised of circular
compositions on textile bearing the works “peace”and “Love” in
various languages.
The artist has said
that, in her paintings representing paradise, she sought to evoke
dreams, innocence and the sublime based on a taoist concept of
unity –and that the circle works featured in the other half of the
show were a manifestation of her awareness the dreams are not
enough to effect change, These more recent compositions are a call
to action.
Jeong-Ae Ju has
described her work as follow:
In my painting, I
express my vision of paradise, not in an ethereal way but very
concretely, in the here and now, and in a universal context. I
stopped using the classic rectangular format because 1 perfer round
shapes, which are more harmonious and pure, and evoke the cosmos
and the universe –and also because the eye travels straight to the
center of a circle, to the core, the essence, meditating on love
and peace makes the seach for paradise more symbolic and spiritual.
The repetition of those two words expresses a never-ending message,
like the refrain of an eternal song. The use of very bright letters
and sequins illuminates and stimulates the sprit, encouraging
meditation. Color is also very important in my work; different
colors all together symbolize equality.
The work donated to the
United Nations Offce in Geneva is among those that Jeong-Ae Ju
painted on denim, a symbol of contemporary life and the younger
generations. Denim is s “democratic” material, the artist says,
that everyone wears regardless of class: everybody is equal in
denim blue. At the center of the work is a cd and a photograph of
the presidents of North Korea and South Korea, in whose historic
meeting Jeong-Ae Ju sees promise of hope.

Jeong-Ae Ju’s canvasses express what she has felt since coming to Europe, They are symphonies of color, in an expansive style little known in her own country, Korea, where color is used to convey religious and philosophical meaning.
The artist studied both eastern and western painting and subtly links the two. We are absorbed into a world of infinite purity and innocence, like a child’s heart, expressed in a naive manner reminiscent of Henri Rousseau.
Her admiration and enthusiasm for the Taoist optimism of philosophers Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu come through strongly and naturally in her work.

Lao Tzu said that man follows the laws of the earth, which follow the laws of the Tao. The Tao follows the laws of nature. If man respects the laws of nature, he may choose a state of happiness, like a paradise. My paintings encourage people to observe, love and preserve nature, which, after all,we are a part of. They express my vision of paradise, not as something ethereal and faraway but as images anchored in the concrete, I paint on circular supports rather than rectangles or squares; soft, rounded forms evoke harmony and purity and of course the cosmos and the universe. The repetition of the words love and peace in my painting express a message without end, like the chorus of a eternal song. Meditating on love and peace makes the search for paradise more symbolic and spiritual. The use of letters and other elements that shine brightly is literally to illuminate, to wake up the mind, and also to incite meditation. Momterey bay landscapers and seascapes, Gary Yakima Geye has 40
years of experience in painting and sculpure. He uses a high-glaze

GARY YAKIMA GEYER:
Gary Yakima Geyer is an internationally known artist with 40 years experience in painting and sculpture. His work is best known for tall ships of the 19th century in both real and surreal settings, and also local Monterey Bay landscapes and seascapes.
He paints in oil on
canvas and linen. His technique is high glaze Dutch Masters style
which consists of many underpaintings, developing a three
dimensional feeling in his work. His paintings fall into the
categories of realism, surrealism and visionary. Sometimes each one
separately-sometimes all three are incorporated into the same piece
of artwork. He is by nature a colorist and uses high color
spectrums in his work, giving them vibrance and life that is very
seldom found in the oil media due to the glazing process. In his
work he attains to be painterly – to use his medium as a painter
not as an illustrator or graphic artist. The realism of his work is
achieved with a painterly stroke of his brush creating a depth and
sharpness of line not found in other medium.
As a sculptor, he works
in metal, stone, clay and wood. He is known as a master woodcarver
and craftsman. His love for all forms of art has also extended to
etching and engraving. His direction in current subject matter
involves preserving the historic heritage of the West Coast.
Specifically, historically accurate maritime scenes, seascapes,
landscapes and nautical portraits of contemporary and traditional
sailing ships. In his work one can see the attachment he harbors
for the sea. Its life-styling vibrancy is as much part of his own
nature as is the love he has for relating its power and
ever-varying moods to his canvases.
In 1994 Mr. Geyer
founded a new art form called Trapazoidal Art or Trapazoidalism. A
totally new art concept as revolutionary as surrealism or cubism or
expressionism, et cetera. This idea is a 33 year trek by Artist
Gary Yakima Geryer to create a better concept of visual illusion on
a two dimensional surface by creating a “Third Dimension” effect.
This is a revolutionary idea that could change the art world’s look
at two dimensional art.

上海真情实景---金炫澔摄影展
韩国摄影师金炫澔在上海顶层画廊的展览是他首次在中国的个展，展示的作品是金炫澔近年在上海南京路附近捕捉到的上海“实景”。在这组照片背后有着摄影师对上海的真情。
金炫澔，1979年出生于汉城大学哲学系。在大学时因‘几台臭相机让人不适’而愤怒，开始摄影。现在在韩国从事专业摄影师和记者。曾出版过< 那里低中国 저 낮은 중국>, < 在学校,鬼活着 학교엔 귀신이 산다>, < ssmai blues 쌈마이 블루스>, < 大胆的读书 대담한 책읽기>等摄影集。
多次在韩国两大杂志, joongang M&B 和 Gaya media 撰稿。最近主要在中国，日本等亚洲国家活动。特别是2004年和2005年在上海制作的< 上海花 상하이 플라워>于 2005年下半年由青年精神出版社出版，同步发行与韩国和上海两地。

KENTIN综合材料作品展
出生于1981年的法国青年画家肯丁是个多面手。18年法国国立音乐学院的专业音乐教育和十年古典舞的经历，炼就了他艺术创作才华的源泉。写作，谱曲，舞蹈，都是他抒发艺术情感的方式，就如同1998年加入进来的新形式——油画。凭借完全的自觉领悟，肯丁结合了丙烯颜料, 油画颜料, 水彩, 抽象拼贴等元素, 用6个月时间完成并展出了他的首批油画作品。人们意识到肯丁的作品即是他表达创作情感的不可分割的一部分。
在肯丁的创作世界里，充满了色彩力量的律动，直觉与自由徜徉在非物质的界限之间。
肯丁作品中寂静的韵律在许多收藏家那里引起了反响，他们对这种充满了力量的光辉的作品给予了特别的关注。
随着与专业人士的逐渐接触，肯丁不断锤炼着他的技术，他受到一些享誉画界的中外艺术家的指点，其中有法国著名油画家Franky CRIQUET, 中国画家潘文逸，金柏松等。
2005年7月，带着把他的艺术创作手法浸润到东方传统书画艺术和当代中国的前卫时尚中来的梦想，肯丁来到上海。由此，380号画室就在瑞金二路一座上海的旧式小楼里诞生了，它将成为一座宁静的，好客的中外过往艺术家的会所，对多元文化影响下的复合型艺术创作推崇备至的舞台。
当前，为了诠释这种文化的交融，肯丁选择在大众桑塔纳的士的车厢盖上进行作画。这一概念源于他与导师法国油画家Franky CRIQUET的一次对话。西方人印象中上海的标志之一 ——大众桑塔纳的士。还有什么比桑塔纳的士更能体现上海快节奏，高效率的大都会生活呢？在肯丁看来，桑塔纳的士的车厢盖跳动在上海每个人的生活中，它凝聚了一段历史，也述说着今天。处理金属结构如同雕刻，而不同材质原料的混合拼贴加强了融合的意义：无尽的色彩，多样的材质，变幻的手法，肯丁的每件金属盖作品都是我们的生活和未来的赞歌：东西方文化纠缠不解的情愫。

Hymn of Metal --- ATELIER KENTIN Solo Show
Born in 1981, the young
French painter Kentin is a multi-talented artist. After spending 18
years in the conservatoire of Music and 10 years in classical
dancing, artistic creation has no secret for him. Writing,
composing, dancing are different means of expression, and painting
appears in 1998. As a self-made man, Kentin presents his first
exhibition, 6 months after having completed his first painting,
using a variety of techniques including acrylic, oil and water, and
collage. People see that painting is for him an inseparable part of
his creative expression as he acquires at each exhibition almost
all his work.
His world combines color energy to intuitive gestures and immaterial limits.
The rhythmic quietude of his work finds a positive answer when looking at specific orders he receives from private collectors who care for the energetic brilliance of one's work of art.
Through his journey, Kentin has learned more and more about this art thanks to renowned artists such as the French painter Francky CRIQUET, Chinese painters Jin Baisong and Wynie Pan only to mention these ones.
In July 2005 Kentin settles down in Shanghai to blend his technique and his expression mode in oriental techniques such as calligraphy, traditional and vanguard Chinese painting. The workplace "Atelier 380" is thus created in a small Shanghainese house on Ruijin Lu, intending to welcome, as a warm and peaceful artists' shelter, Chinese and visiting foreign painters in order to share a same vision of a diverse form of art beyond cultural differences.
As a symbol of this cultural blend, Kentin is currently working on Volkswagen Santana fronts, an idea originating from a conversation with his master, the French painter F. CRIQUET, about what foreigners remember as strong symbols for Shanghai city -- Santana taxicabs. What else could better represent the Shanghai life of foreigners and Shanghainese people who use this means of transportation? For Kentin, Volkswagen Santana fronts symbolize the life of each of us -- a long-storied metal part. By working on metal, the basic structure becomes sculpture and associating various items reinforces the "blending" symbol -- blending of colors, materials and techniques.
Each item of this collection is a hymn to Life and to our common future: the cultural mingling of East and West.

当代艺术正在朝着超越纯美学的范畴，与伦理学，心理学，政治学和文化融为一体，强调运用多种媒介进行自治性的视觉创造和观念表达，要求艺术摆脱各种形态的意义强权和庸俗的图像社会学的干预，充分释放各种视觉和非视觉媒介的意义能量，马军的画正在这样表达着。它不仅从社会学而且从人类学、心理学甚至生物学角度寻找对人的感性、知觉和心理、生理命题的直接表达，它渴求以恢复人的创造性的生命力为契机，
向每一个人呼唤，期待留下印象，尤其希望引起感觉，希望成为可以被接纳的一种情感冲击的原因，希望透过自己输入作品的精神力量来说服人。
马军的画依赖于你自己去判断你相信什么，是你的反应，是观众、决定了这件作品。它强调对理性思考和日常生活两方面的关照方式，不仅向艺术对象提问：这种艺术为什么是这样？谁是艺术家？而且也向观看它的人提问：你是谁？你代表了什么？它将观众的视线转移到其自身，使之产生自觉意识，每一位马军画的观众都能从中解读到自己最想读的内容，这就是马军画最独特之处。艺术最重要的功能便是沟通，因为互相了解是整合人类的一股力量，而且，共享互惠的精神使艺术活动达到最高层面。这种绘画已经不是某种物体的画像，而是物体本身，它们不是自然的再现，而本身就是自然。做好这一点很难，而马军做到了！
从马军的画面中，极现代的视觉冲击下还能若隐若现地感觉到中华传统儒家人文精神蕴含下的深刻美育品格，那种归以之文化存在为本，以人对世界的情感体验和情感观照为中介，通过人与对象世界的各种关系的恰如其分的把握，实现人与对象世界关系的和谐，达到人的理想境界的追求。这种东西方文化的高度和谐统一，使油画这一西方艺术赋予新的活力。

亲爱的朋友：包元蔚艺术工作室（Effie Pow Studio）在上海顶层画廊（Room with a View Gallery）已经开始了Mailbox Gallery 的艺术实验。
包元蔚小姐开始的设想是借鉴西方mail art的操作方式，以邮寄的方式邀请世界各地的艺术家将作品寄至上海顶层画廊，然后做正规的展览。现在我们有了一个更有趣的想法：在准备实物展览的过程中，运用email更迅速更广泛地将艺术家的作品发送到你的邮箱，随时随地，mailbox gallery就在你自己的电脑里！
所以，如果你有兴趣一起参与，赶快把你的作品（任何形式）邮发到本信件所列的E-mail地址里，加入我们的“首届国际Mail Art作品展”吧！
一，展览标题：“女性的扩展----从愿望到激情”
不论你的性别，只要你的作品是关注当下女性的生存状态的，就是我们热切希望看到的好作品！

参加我们活动年龄最小的女画家是中国上海的李彦漪，今年13岁，她有多幅油画和综合材料作品参展。

四，Mail Art艺术展示日(Mail Art DAY)
顶层画廊将在每月的第二个星期日的晚上，进行“Mail Art艺术展示日”(Mail Art DAY)活动。将征集到照片和DV等作品以投影的方式集中展示于顶层画廊。
第一次展览的时间为：2005年12月10日晚上19：00开始，同时我们将举行“Mail Art DAY”成立酒会。其它的“Mail Art艺术展示日”(Mail Art DAY)时间为：2006年1月8日晚上，2006年2月5日晚上。
第二次大型展览的时间为：2006年3月8日至19日。展览标题“女性的扩展----国际Mail Art作品展”。
顶层画廊安排为期12天的艺术品实物展示，包括收集到的通过邮局寄来的作品实物，打印的电子作品等。在开幕当天同时用投影放映半年来征集到的参展作品照片和DV。
以后的“Mail Art艺术展示日”(Mail Art DAY)时间为：2006年4月9日和5月14日（母亲节）。
